With the TK-Doc app, Techniker Krankenkasse members have 24/7 access to medical advice — via chat, phone, or video consultation. The app enables digital doctor visits, including sick notes and e-prescriptions. Users can describe symptoms, upload photos, and receive personal recommendations — quickly, securely, and conveniently from home or on the go. Implemented with Cap3 as a technological partner, TK-Doc is continuously evolving with new features.
// Challenge
Rethinking digital health.
With the rising demand for digital healthcare solutions, Techniker Krankenkasse set out to build a platform that combines maximum security with ease of use and seamless integration into existing IT systems. Key priorities included strict compliance with healthcare data protection regulations (GDPR), a stable and scalable architecture to handle high user volumes, and an intuitive interface designed to be accessible even for less tech-savvy users.

// Solution
Innovative, easy to use, secure.
Together with Techniker Krankenkasse, Cap3 developed a customized solution that meets the highest standards of usability, security, and quality. An intuitive user interface ensures easy access for all insured persons, regardless of technical experience. The integrated TeleClinic interface enables flexible communication via live chat, video consultation, or telephone with medical professionals. In addition, an integrated web view from DOCYET supports users with an innovative symptom checker to better assess their health. State-of-the-art encryption safeguards sensitive data, while regular updates guarantee long-term stability and a sustainable user experience. In 2024, the platform was expanded with the "eVerordnung"-feature, developed by Cap3 as part of the joint project “eHealth Germany.”

// FEATURE
TK doctor guide
The feature offers a clear overview of regional healthcare services and helps insured persons quickly find the right points of contact for their medical needs.
Efficient doctor search with added value
The Techniker Krankenkasse Doctor Guide is a web-based portal for targeted doctor searches — from general practitioners and dentists to psychotherapists. Users can filter by criteria such as language skills, office hours, or special services and receive up-to-date, tailored practice recommendations — clear, reliable, and individualized.
Technical integration for seamless use
The solution was developed in cooperation with Stiftung Gesundheit and is based on the official Health structure index. Stiftung Gesundheit continuously operates, maintains, and further develops this index. Interfaces handle authentication, detailed data such as addresses, specialties, services, and patient reviews. Special filters — for example for barrier-free practices — are available via API, ensuring the search is always up to date, secure, and high-performing.

Together with Cap3, we have successfully integrated our system into the TK-Doc app and implemented the high security and performance requirements. The result is a modern platform that makes digital doctor visits reliable and easy.
