For us as new members of Cap3, CodeCamp 2017 was a very special experience. Weeks earlier, the topic of CodeCamp came up again and again and plans were being made for projects - you could already guess that an exciting weekend was imminent! After only 3 weeks of familiarization with Cap3, we too were spoilt for choice when it came to offering projects. We decided on an idea from Basti: The design and implementation of an app that allows you to document the daily soccer games in the Cap3 premises by visualizing the teams and scores. The idea should be implemented with a ReactApp created by Electron on a Raspberry Pi runs and can be controlled via a connected touchscreen. The project was an ideal task for CodeCamp, as it combined technologies that we were able to learn about in our first month at Cap3 with a pretty cool idea. There was also the experimental part with Raspberry and touchscreen (thanks to Cap3 for purchasing the project-specific hardware!) and the previously unknown evolution with Electron.

So the long weekend with the Cap3 team went full of excitement and expectation. The final presentation was due on Saturday at 5 p.m., so it was time to hold on!

However, this motto was all too often interrupted by great food, nice conversations, walks in the area or board and console games, so that it was Saturday afternoon earlier than expected and panic and excitement slowly spread among the soccer app team. Since Paul had joined the project after assistance with initial hardware problems, you could now see four concentrated faces brooding in front of the monitors. In the end, I was worried about an inadequate presentation on the part of our team - but I quickly realized that this fear was completely unfounded. After all, the introductory round was not about presenting the best possible result at the end, but rather about reporting on experiences and findings derived from the colorfully selected projects. We got to see many interesting results from the other projects and finally successfully presented a prototype of our foosball app.

The whole team spent the rest of Saturday evening doing lots of fun leisure activities, so that the weekend came to a relaxed end.

CodeCamp gave us the opportunity to gain new insights into various technical areas and get to know the team in a new way, so that there was probably only one thing missing out on this weekend: Sleep...

Overall, it remains to be said:

Thank you so much for the great weekend, we are looking forward to the next two months of internship at Cap3!
